According to CCTV news, On October 27, 2020, China's manned submersible "Striver" broke the 10,000-meter barrier and reached 10,058 meters in the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean, setting a new record for China's manned deep-sea dive.At 8:12 am on November 10, China's manned submersible "Striver" successfully settled down in the Mariana Trench at a depth of 10,909 meters. After landing, the three divers will conduct some sampling work on the seabed, which is expected to last for six hours.Six hours is also the longest designed time for striver's manned submersible to operate on the ocean floor.

"Striver", a deep-sea manned submersible, is a major deep-sea scientific and technological equipment specially supported by "Key Technologies and Equipment in deep Sea", a key research and development plan of the country during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. The all-Sea deep manned submersible project was launched in 2016 and is undertaken by a scientific research team with research and development strength mainly from the 72nd Research Institute of China Shipping Corporation LTD., namely Jiaolong and Deep-Sea Warrior.China's Striver, a manned submersible that incorporates the fine lineage of the previous two generations of deep-diving equipment, not only USES a safe, stable, and powerful energy system, but also has more advanced control and positioning systems, as well as a more pressure-resistant manned capsule and buoyancy material.

The sea trial mission adopted the "twin ship" support mode, that is, in order to support the "Striver" to successfully complete the sea trial, the "Exploration 1" support ship and the "exploration 2" support ship's "twin mother ship" support mode.

The discovery 1, formerly a multi-functional vessel named "Haiyang Petroleum 299", was transformed into a manned submersible working mother ship in 2016 by Guangzhou CSSC Wenzhong Dock Co., LTD., a subsidiary of the China National Shipbuilding Corporation. The ship is 94.45 meters long, 17.9 meters wide, has a displacement of 6,250 tons and a endurance of more than 10,000 nautical miles. In June this year, the ship, carrying an unmanned submersible, Haidou-1, set a new record for China's largest diving depth by a submersible. It has also carried the Deep-sea Warrior back to China. In June 2019, Exploration No. 1 completed its latest renovation at Wenchong Shipyard, which enhanced the ship's ability to deploy, recover and transfer the 10,000-meter manned submersible vehicles, upgraded the hardware and software of the 10,000-meter underwater acoustic communication and positioning system, installed the bow side push sealing system, and carried out routine repairs.

With a total length of 87.2 meters, a width of 18.8 meters, a depth of 7.4 meters, and a full load displacement of 6,700 tons, the project was undertaken by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Co., LTD. The project started in December 2018 and was completed in June this year. The ship is equipped with two full rotary rudder paddles and two bow side thrusts. With all-electric propulsion, the DP 2 dynamic positioning capability can effectively coordinate the position of the submersible to make timely positioning adjustments. It has a range of more than 15,000 nautical miles and can carry 60 expedition members for sea trials.

It is worth mentioning that the ship's CTD winch and retracting and releasing device, the 100-ton gantry type submersible laying and retrieving system, the 10-ton 20-meter folding boom telescopic crane and ot

In July 2010, China's first manned submersible, Jiaolong, which was independently designed and integrated, reached a depth of 3,759 meters, making China the fifth country in the world, after the United States, France, Russia and Japan, to master the technology of manned deep-sea submersion at a depth of 3,500 meters. In June 2012, the Jiaolong, a 7,000-meter manned submersible, completed its ultimate challenge, eventually keeping the record at 7,062 meters.

Different from Jiaolong, which was launched and developed ten years ago, The second generation of China's manned submersible, Deep-Sea Warrior, took only eight years from project approval to sea trial delivery, and it is more localized and practical.

The development of the 10,000-meter manned submersible began in 2016 before the deep-Sea Warrior was launched.China's Striver, a manned submersible that incorporates the fine lineage of the previous two generations of deep-diving equipment, not only USES a safe, stable, and powerful energy system, but also has more advanced control and positioning systems, as well as a more pressure-resistant manned capsule and buoyancy material.

In addition to manned submersibilites, China also has many unmanned submersibilites, such as Haidou No.1, Haiyan and Haiyi. In June this year, Haidou I successfully completed its first 10,000-meter sea trial in the Mariana Trench, with its maximum diving depth of 10,907 meters, which set a new record for the maximum diving depth of a Chinese submersible.
